An incomplete rectangular copper-alloy strap fitting of Medieval date. Only part of one plate survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
It is flat with a decorated front face. One outer edge has a transverse rectangular field defined by a rectangular groove border with a pair of transverse grooves. Within this field are the remains of four ring and dot motifs. The other outer edge has a longitudinal rectangular field defined by a pair of longitudinal grooves. Within this field are the remains of three ring and dot motifs. The remainder of the object is decorated with multiple diagonal grooves. The back face has the remains of crude incised lines.
This strap fitting measures 21.91mm in length, 21.14mm in width, 0.47mm in thickness, 1.01g in weight.
