A large cast copper-alloy fragment, probably from the foot or handle of a vessel of Medieval or later date. It is oval in form and section with rounded outer edge and attachment end that terminates in old breaks. The attachment end has one projecting sprue or arm, with a similar incomplete arm on the other side of the fragment separated by a large oval shaped notch or hollow. It is uncertain whether this was intentional or the result of poor manufacture or post production damage. The entire object has worn surfaces with a dark green/brown patina and some signs of sooting resultant from exposure to high temperatures or fire. It measures 71.90mm in length, 31.87mm in width, 11mm in thickness and 90.57g in weight. This is probably an incomplete fragment from a cooking vessel of Medieval or later date, perhaps from a leg or a handle of a skillet or similar. It is of probable 14th-17th century AD date, although an earlier or later date range cannot be ruled out entirely.
