A post-medieval cast copper-alloy oval buckle frame, incomplete insofar as it is missing its pin and plate, dating to AD c.1650-1720. The frame is oval with a wide continuous outer edge and a central narrowed strap bar dividing it into two D-shaped loops. The frame has a concave back and moulded front. There is an inner ring of pellets around a line border and an outer border of curved moulded ridges with pellets between. One ridge has been bent upwards folloing post-depositional damage.
The buckle is 31.0mm long, 27.3mm wide and 2.0mm thick; it weighs 3.6 grams. In profile it is curved, probably due to use rather than damage (although this cannot be ruled out given the damage already noted). A similar example, though bearing moulded rosettes (rather than pellets between the curved ridges), can be found illustrated in Whitehead (2003, 49; no. 286).
