A fragment of a Roman copper-alloy wide cuff bracelet.
The surviving piece is of flat section and subrectangular in plan, having been broken at both ends. A longitudinal band of parallel grooves, ridges and stamped ropework lines occupies much of the upper surface.
Length: 42.9mm; width: 19.4mm; thickness: 1.1mm. Weight: 3.31g.
Stratigraphic evidence from excavations suggests that broad, flat-sectioned bracelets of this form date from the mid to late 1st century AD. Close parallels for this piece include Baldock nos. 163 - 166 (Stead and Rigby 1986: fig. 52).
