A small, cast copper alloy seal matrix dating from the Medieval period, about AD 1250 - 1400. The face of the seal matrix is oval. The device is of a flat topped shield blazoned with a bend (diagonal stripe from top left to bottom right, on the impression) on which are three or four overlapping marks, which are not clear enough to identify. The handle is conical, with a circular suspension loop at the top. The loop has a U shaped groove in the centre of the upper edge. The matrix is 11.6mm long, 9.7mm wide and 12.5mm high. It weighs 2.48gm. Compare HAMP-965776.
