Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type (Mackreth 2011, Part 5, Group 2.a2, sprung pin, enamelled panel on upper bow made up of three squares, pair of lobes under it, flat wing ends type).
Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that would have held the pin axis bar. There is a loop at the top of the head for the external cord of the spring. the head of the bow is an angled flat plate that has a line of three recessed squares running down its length. Below the head plate are a pair of lobes beneath it before the lower part of the bow narrows to an oval cross-section leg, however this it truncated near the top resulting in the loss of the catch plate. Date 80-160AD.
