Roman copper alloy trumpet brooch that has an oval head plate surmounted by a truncated loop. On the reverse are two rearward facing perforated lug that would have held the spring support bar, spring and pin are missing. A moulded narrow waisted band marks the junction between the head plate and the bow. The rest of the bow is decorated with two groves that run down that top edge, the bow is truncated at its apex resulting in the loss of the catchplate. Date 75-175AD
