Copper alloy plate. Sub-rectangular sheet metal object with slightly convergent sides, angled at one end and rounded at the other. A drilled hole of diameter 2.7mm is close to each end. The relatively large holes would argue against the medieval style of fixing with small rivets; they show no sign of wear so a mechanical function is unlikely. The thickness of the sheet varies from 0.5mm to 0.8mm over its very limited length, so the object is unlikely to be machined. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1750.
