An incomplete iron possible girdle hanger or symbolic key of Early-Medieval date. It is missing part of the suspension loop due to old breaks, now worn.
It has a long shank which is rectangular in section and terminates with the remains of the now missing suspension loop. The terminal is split with two upturned prongs, which are rectangular in section and bend forward into oval shaped knops. This creates the letter 'W', with the central stem being the main shank.
This girdle hanger measures 109.79mm in length, 68.25mm in width, 14.36mm in width at the shank at the base, 7.22mm in width at the shank at the top, 14.43mm in thickness, 141.22g in weight.
There is a similar example recorded on the PAS database (LIN-E7A961).
