An incomplete copper-alloy arm or bar from a locking buckle of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It is missing the frame due to old breaks, now worn.
It is U-shaped and hexagonal in section. It narrows towards the terminal where there is a knop decorated with deep diagonal grooves radiating from its centre. All faces display coarse filing marks from finishing.
This buckle arm measures 34.44mm in length, 9.15mm in width, 2.64mm in thickness, 2.54g in weight.
There is a similar example from Norwich (Margeson, 1993, 26, no. 139) and London (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, no. 445).
