A Medieval to post-Medieval cast copper-alloy cooking vessel foot (c. 1250-c. 1650).
At the front, this foot has a vertical central mid-rib and has a transverse break at the top. The base of the foot is rounded and worn.
The object is corroded and has patches of consolidated soot. The break is abraded.
This leg was probably originally part of a cauldron.
Height: 30.0mm; width: 38.6mm; thickness: 16.3mm. Weight: 42.33g.
Cast cooking vessels seem to have come into use in the second half of the 13th century and to have continued at least until c. 1600 (Geake 2001: 52).
