A corroded Medieval to post-Medieval cast copper-alloy cooking vessel foot (c. 1250-c. 1650).
At the front, this foot has a vertical central mid-rib (just visible) and has an uneven break at the rear. The base of the foot is flat.
The object is corroded and has flecks of consolidated soot.
This leg was probably originally part of a cauldron.

Cast cooking vessels seem to have come into use in the second half of the 13th century and to have continued at least until c. 1600 (Geake 2001: 52).
