Incomplete post-medieval copper alloy pocket sundial or ring dial: bent and distorted flat-sectioned ring with median groove on outer face. One end broken across twin perforations for the missing suspension-loop, the other across the longitudinal slot. Inner face decorated with three bands of letters and numbers separated by two engraved longitudinal lines and within bordering lines, reading from left to right from break: 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 / · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · 1 2 / 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 (numbers bisected by engraved transverse lines all slightly oblique. Length (unbent) 87mm. Width 13mm. 1.5mm thick. Cf. Shoesmith (1978), 101-8 and Rogerson and Ashley (1987), 24, 26, fig.22, no.33. 17th-18th century.
