An incomplete and corroded Medieval cast copper-alloy harness suspension mount (c. 1200-c. 1400).

The suspension mount is sub-rectangular in plan, and generally sub-triangular in cross-section, flat at the rear. At each end there is lobe with an elongated knop which is hemispherical in cross-section. The lobes are pierced with holes to accommodate iron rivets, the remains of which survive. At the front, adjacent to each lobe on the inner side, is a small waist. The suspension attachment arm at the centre of the underside is incomplete as the two loops that accommodated the axis bar for the pendant are missing.

The mount is corroded and green with iron staining.

Height: 14.1mm; width: 40.3mm; thickness: 5.7mm. Weight: 4.87g.

Similar suspension mounts have been published (Read 2001: 40, fig. 30, ref: 389; Griffiths (in Clarke) 1995: 69, fig. 52, ref: 73).
