A worn and corroded post-Medieval copper-alloy double-sided coin weight possibly for a half angel. Manufactured by Bernaert Foncq at Antwerp.
Obverse: St Michael spearing a dragon.
Reverse: Human hand, upright, flanked by initials B F (before 1658).
Length: 16.8mm; width: 15.1mm; thickness: 1.4mm. Weight: 2.07g. (32.0 grains).
The hand on the reverse indicates that the weight was produced in the Low Countries at Antwerp, the initials probably indicating that the manufacturer was Bernaert Foncq (Withers P and BR: 1995, 10 and 60).
