An almost complete and slightly misshapen Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy closed thimble (c. 1400-c. 1550).

This thimble is domed and the walls have a continuous spiral of hand drilled circular pits that spiral in a clockwise direction from the base towards the centre of the crown. The rim is plain and there are no manufacture marks.

This thimble is matt green with patches of green corrosion products. A small portion of the rim is missing due to a break or corrosion.

Height: 18.9mm; width: 21.8mm; thickness: 17.7mm; thickness at rim: 0.5mm. Weight: 5.21g.
