A cast copper-alloy strap end of medieval date. The strap end is formed from two matching sheets of copper alloy, secured to a fibrous strap with a rivet in the centre at either end. Some of the strap survives and it appears to be wool rather than leather. These strap ends often had a forked spacer between the two plates, however this example appears to have been secured directly to the strap and there is no room for a spacer. The plates are undecorated but terminate in a pinched end. Egan & Pritchard illustrate similar strap ends (1991:142 nos.653 & 664) which are dated from c. AD 1270-1350.
