A complete probably Post Medieval hammered copper-alloy closed thimble probably dating from the 16th-17th centuries AD. The thimble has a domed crown from which the body tapers gently, terminating in a broad undecorated band at the rim. At the apex of the crown is decorated with incised lines forming a flower type pattern. From this area the indentations of incised lines follow a spiral pattern around the circumference of the body. This artefact has been slightly compressed on one side. It has an overall dark red-brown colour. The thimble measures 18.1mm high, with a 17.46mm diameter base and 10.39mm diameter at the crown. It has 0.5mm thick walls, and weighs 2.1 grams.
