A Medieval to post-Medieval leg/foot from a cast copper-alloy cooking vessel (c. 1250-c. 1650).

The object is sub-rectangular in plan and sub-triangular in cross-section.
The front is divided by a prominent horizontal rib which is situated about mid-way along its length. Above and below this rib there is a central vertical rib flanked on either side by a less prominent rib. The rear face is flat and plain and the base of the foot is rounded and worn.

This object is greyish green with patches of a buff deposit and consolidated soot. The break at the top is crisp but probably old.

Height: 44.2mm; width: 25.1mm; thickness: 12.9mm. Weight: 52.34g.

Cast cooking vessels seem to have come into use in the second half of the 13th century and to have continued at least until c. 1600 (Geake 2001: 52; Butler, Green and Payne 2009: 6, fig. 4c).
