An incomplete copper-alloy buckle plate of Medieval date. It is rectangular in form with flat upper and lower plate, the lower plate being slightly short and narrower. The frame end is missing due to old breaks but the object has the remains of rectangular frame recesses and pin slot. Both plates are pierced by five circular rivet holes, one at the centre and one at each corner of the plate, the two rivet holes at the frame end retaining separately cast copper-alloy rivets with domed heads. The front face of the upper plate has decoration comprising a border formed from double rows of punched opposing triangles on both sides and at the attachment end. It measures 29.80mm in length, 17.91mm in width, 5.39mm in thickness and 2.86g in weight. This buckle plate is of Medieval date, c.14th century AD (as Egan and Pritchard, 1991: no. 508).
