A large heavily corroded copper alloy foot probably from a cooking cauldron. The foot tapers outwards from the point where it was fixed to the vessel. It is trapezoidal in both plan and cross section. All surfaces are flat with the exception of the front which has a crude raised central 'toe' running down its length. The leg is heavily encrusted and blackened with soot especially on the front face. The cauldrons to which the leg attached were usually of a tripod form and were widely used from circa 1200-1700 AD for serving and cooking. The object is 28mm long and 39mm at its widest point across the foot.
