Just over half of a copper-alloy double-loop buckle, dating from the post-Medieval period.
The intact half of the frame has straight horizontal sides and a wider, pointed pin rest. The axis bar is of rectangular section, with a projecting knop at either end; the rest of the frame is of flat section but has bevelled outer edges. Only a small fragment of the other half of the frame remains. The buckle has a silvery appearance, indicative of a high lead-tin content or a white metal coating.
Dimensions: 28.6mm long, 22mm wide, 2.4mm thick. Weight: 4g.
Similar buckles are illustrated by Whitehead (1996: 82), who dates them to the 17th century.
