Cast copper-alloy beehive-shaped thimble, probably made from stamped sheet metal (less likely cast) with individually drilled holes dating from the late medieval or early post-medieval period, that is the 15th and 16th centuries. The thimble is complete, but with a very worn jagged edge. There is no decoration except a horizontal band around its lower edge and c. 250 individually drilled perforations, made by a 'thimbler'. It was probably made from sheet metal and is now very slightly bent.
