A copper alloy two piece Medieval strap end. The strap end has a tapering lingulate shape with a small medial lip at the terminal end. The strap end is held together by two copper alloy circular rivets, one at either end. No evidence can be seen of a spacer piece but beyond the terminal-end rivet, the two halves seperate to accommodate the strap. There is significant remains of a whitish fibrous material within the gap which is presumably the remains of a thin non-leather strap. There is no decoration on either face. The object is a mottled green colour with patination to brown in places. Similar strap ends are shown in Egan; Dress Accessories 1150-1450 (2002) p132/133.in which the type is given a circa 1250-1400 AD date.
