Cast copper alloy strap end or possibly a buckle plate dating from the medieval period, that is c. AD1200-1500. The artefact remains intact with front and back undamaged. While the reverse is plain, the obverse is decorated with incised decoration which may have held a niello inlay. The imagery is difficult to identify from the image, but the style of decoration suggests something floral rather than figurative or geometric. There are two rivet holes towards the bottom edge of the artefact and, what may be the remains of the buckle pin, towards the front, The bar which was part of the buckle frame may still be in place, hidden by the folded-over buckle plate (if it was a buckle plate rather than a strap end).
