Cast copper alloy buckle plate fragment dating from the medieval period, that is c. AD1200-1400. The fragment is extremely worn and only the plate, not the buckle frame or the pin survive. The edges of the buckle plate are extremely worn, but the outline was roughly triangular with a small buckle frame. The perforation for the pin is broken and incomplete, but the rivet hole for attaching the artefact to a leather strap is still perfectly circular and little worn. The reverse of the buckle plate was plain, but the obverse was decorated with somewhat irregular grooves and dots which were not cast, but applied after casting.
