A cast copper alloy, openwork belt or strap mount of Post-Medieval date, about AD 1600 - 1700. It is in the form of an openwork heart with an inverted, openwork fleur-de-lys depending from the base. The upper surface is slightly bevelled and the underside is flat, with two integral circular-sectioned mounting spikes, one at the base of the heart and one in the centre of the upper edge. The mount has a light green patina. It is 35.1mm long, 22.8mm wide and 6.9mm thick. It weighs 4.92gm.
Similar mounts can be found on the database; compare for example record LEIC-DE4755 which cites Read (2001) p.28, no's.300&302 for parallels, which he dates to the 17th century.
