Knapped flint end scraper or side-and-end scraper made on a secondary flake. It is broadly oval in plan. The proximal end is broken with two breaks, one is straight and may be deliberate, it has removed the bulb of percussion and any striking platform, there is also an an old, non-deliberate break to one side. There are prominent percussion ripples remaining on the ventral face. It is triangular in section with an aris running down the centre of the dorsal face. One side of this aris is original, unworked cortex covering c. 55% of the face. The other part of the dorsal face is the scar from a previous removal of a large flake parallel to this one.
The retouch extends around the distal end and onto the distal end of one side. The reminder of that side and the other side are badly chipped and damaged, obscuring any retouch. The retouch is long, sub-parallel and abrupt to semi-abrupt at the distal end becoming shorter, scalar and semi-abrupt on the side.
It is 49.6mm long, 33.3mm wide and 10.6mm thick; it weighs 15.78g. The worked areas are heavily recorticated, covered in thick, white patina obscuring the colour of the flint. The thick original cortex suggests downland flint.
The thickness of the flake and large percussion ripples suggests hard hammer working and a later Neolithic or Bronze Age date, c. 3,300 to 800 BC.
