A complete post-Medieval silver shilling of Charles I (1625-1649), minted at London (Tower). Group D. Mintmark: crown, 1635-1636 (North 1991: 159, ref: 2225).

Obverse: (crown) .CAROLVS.D.G.MAG.BR.FR.ET.HI.REX.; Crowned bust left with XII (mark of value) behind head (no inner circle)

Reverse: (crown) .CHRISTO.AVSPICE.REGNO. (I reign under the auspice of Christ); Round garnished shield (no inner circle)

Diameter: 29.6mm. Weight: 5.83g. DA=12:6.

Notes:

There may be a plume before the bust. However, due to wear, it is difficult to be certain. If their is a plume the coin is possibly North 2352 (minted at Aberystwyth, 1648-1649).
