A complete post-Medieval gilded copper-alloy ferrule (1700-1900).
This object, which is probably a ferrule, has been made from a single strip of rectangular metal which has been stamped and then folded to form a ring. It has three parallel rows of seventeen evenly spaced (except where it is joined) stamped motifs. These are proud externally. Each motif is star-like in form and all have been produced by the same tool. The join is visible externally and internally.
This ferrule is gilded externally and internally. Where the gilding has worn, the metal is reddish brown.
