A fragment of an unusual Middle Iron Age cast copper alloy brooch. Much of the upper part is missing along with the spring and pin. The reverted foot is cast as one with the bow.
The remainder of the bow is flat with a complex external edge and is perforated by a number of circular holes. The holes in the foot and bow would have secured an additional material to the upper surface with small rivets. The additional material may have been glass or perhaps coral, although no glass examples have yet been found outside of grave contexts.
