An incomplete copper-alloy object of Roman date. Only the terminal survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
It has a circular central section. Extending from the top are two decreasing in size globular knops, terminating in old breaks. At the base is an integral flat circular attachment plate. Projecting from this is the remains of a rectangular iron object, possibly a rivet.
This mount measures 15.36mm in length, 9.35mm in diameter in the centre 7.50mm in diameter at the base, 3.56g in weight.
Items similar to this piece have been found on Roman sites, for example (Crummy; 1983, p. 167; no. 4656), where they have been interpreted as handles and recorded on the PAS database (BH-879905).
