An incomplete and worn copper-alloy book clasp of Post-Medieval date. Only part of the plate and the hook survive, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
It is flat with a 5mm long hook projecting from one end. In the centre is a circular rivet hole. The front face is decorated towards the hook with a series of diagonal grooves. These terminate at the rivet hole and from there to the attachment end it is decorated with a series of longitudinal grooves before terminating in old breaks. The back face is undecorated.
This book fitting measures 21.65mm in length, 9.94mm in width, 1.05mm in thickness, 0.88g in weight.
