Post Medieval copper alloy hooked strap fitting, probably a 17th century sword belt fitting. The mount has a raised round central plate decorated with an embossed design with traces of gilding: and an incised line running parallel to to the plate's edge now obscured by corrosion. At one end of the plate is a projecting oval flat knop with a circular hole in the centre filled with iron corrosion. At the opposite end of the plate is an oval-sectioned knop where the hook would have been now ending in a worn break. The mount is 40.26 mm long, 23.76 mm wide and 4.65 mm thick and weighs 5.1 grams. Several similar items are illustrated in Read (2008:221-2) in particular 797 which has a similar shape and 799 which has a similar design. He suggests a 17th century date for these examples.
