A cast copper-alloy buckle of Medieval date. It has a rectangular frame that has four evenly spaced transverse grooves on the front face of the outer edge. At the bar end the buckle has an integrally cast plate that is triangular in form, tapering towards the attachment end where it terminates in old breaks. This has a single circular pin hole, containing the corroded remains of an iron pin, at the centre of the bar end. The front face of the plate has traces of gilding as well as possible moulded chevron decoration but its precise form is uncetrain due to the preservation of the object. On the back face the attachment end the plate has a single integrally cast rivet that is oval in form with a flattened oval head. The entire object measures 13.90mm in width, 28.55mm in length, 3.33mm in thickness and 2.12g in weight.
This buckle is of Medieval date with similar examples published (in iron) from London (Egan and Pritchard, 1991: nos. 485, 487). It is of probable 13th-14th century AD date.
