An incomplete copper-alloy Roman figurine, possibly in the form of Diana. Only the head, neck and the top part of the torso survive, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
The head is oval, hollow and faces forward. It is surmounted with a band of hair 5.51mm wide, extending from shoulders over the top of the head. This is decorated with transverse grooves. Her face has a defined chin and jaw-line with circular indentations for the eyes and adjacent deep grooves to emphasise the nose. The mouth is worn but a slight depression remains. Below the head is the neck which extends onto the remains of and torso. This is slightly concave, undecorated and terminates in old breaks.
This figurine measures 28.03mm in height, 15.22mm in width at the head, 17.39mm in width at the torso, 13.55mm in thickness at the head, 2.07mm in thickness at the torso, 8.85g in weight.
There are similar examples recorded on the PAS database (WMID-01FA06), (KENT-108780). However, no direct parallels could be found.
