Part of a fragment of an unusual openwork Late Saxon bridle cheek piece with an inward-facing Ringerike-style animal with a scalloped mane, broken across one of five round apertures and a larger one, possibly for the bit. Corroded purplish metal. Surviving length 41mm. Surviving height 25mm. 5mm thick. Williams 2007 Type 1. 11th century.
