Late Iron Age or Early Roman copper alloy strap distributor consisting of a triangular arrangement of three globular elements conjoined by short bars. One globe is attached to and is partly enclosed within a casting sprue which terminates in a flat-based jet. A similar object decorated in a La Tène derivative style was found in Felmingham, Norfolk (Rogerson and Ashley 2010, fig. 2 no. 10). Another plain example has been recorded in East Sussex (SUSS-05EDC0 with a list of others on this database). The present example is a rare piece of direct evidence of the manufacturing process. Overall length 44mm. Width and thickness of the distributor 22 and 10mm. Weight 29.19g. c.100 BC - c.100 AD.
