A Medieval (1175-1400) copper alloy "pear" or "tear-drop" -shaped horse harness pendant, missing all its original patina. It is convex to the front, concave to the reverse and with a loop extending from the narrow end turned through 90°. The remains of an iron bar are apparent in the loop.
The object measures 19.12x11.24x4.78mm and weighs 1.38g. The surface was probably originally gilded.
Harness pendants hung from a leather strap around the horse and were often very colourful and/ or gilded so they would be seen and look splendid.
