A complete copper alloy seal matrix of medieval to post-medieval date. The die of the matrix is ovate with a waisted ovate sectioned handle extending from the reverse. The handle terminates in an openwork quatrefoil design. The die itself bears the central image of a fish or dolphin hauriant and is uninscribed. This image is similar to that seen on the arms of the Dauphin of France, the heir apparent to the throne of France from 1350 to 1791 and 1824 to 1830.

The metal has a mid reddish-brown patina and is worn. The seal matrix is 28.6mm tall, the die is 14.5mm x 12.9mm, the handle is 15.9mm x 4.2mm. The object weighs 4.4g.
