A complete Medieval sheet copper-alloy loop. (c. 1200-c. 1500).

This object is a flat sub-rectangular piece of sheet copper-alloy folded through 180° to form a loop. It tapers in width from the fold towards the attachment end. In plan, the front attachment end is straight and the rear attachment end is rounded. At the attachment end, a copper-alloy dome-headed rivet is situated at each corner. The shafts are circular in cross-section and measure 2.27mm in diameter and the heads are 4.15mm in diameter.

This fitting is purplish and has traces of gilding at the front.

Length: 23.58mm; width: 15.02mm; thickness of sheet close to the rivets: 1.37mm; overall thickness: 8.56mmm. Weight: 5.15g.
