A complete lead alloy uniface token of late Medieval to early Post Medieval date, circa 1400-1700. The token is sub-triangular in plan, with rounded corners, and irregular in section. There appears to be a raised, cast design on the face of the token, but the surface is too worn to be certain. The reverse of the token is flat and undecorated. The token has a mottled mid grey and light green patina and is worn as a result of movement in the plough soil. Lead tokens were used throughout the Medieval and Post Medieval periods as a substitute for low denomination currency.
Length: 19.61mm. Width: 18.12mm. Thickness: 4.73mm. Weight: 8.71g.
