A cast copper-alloy buckle plate of Medieval date, c. 1200-1450.
The buckle plate is incomplete, and probably consisted of a folded strip of copper-alloy sheet, though only the outer face of the plate remains. This consists of a sub-square plate with some folding near one broken edge suggesting the location of the hinge for holding the buckle frame, now missing. The plate is decorated with a raised swirly shape in low relief on a cross-hatched field. A rivet can be found in each outer corner of the plate.
