Post Medieval lead alloy two disc type alnage cloth seal. Only part of one disc remains with the central rivet which would have attached it to the other disc. The edges of the disc, with most of the connecting strip, have also broken away. The complete disc is plain or possibly very worn. The end of the rivet shows part of the stamped design of the royal arms. It is now 17.3mm by 17.2mm and 3.3mm thick and it weighs 3.06 grams.
Cloth seals bearing a the royal arms were used to show the piece had paid the appropriate taxes (alnage). Without more detail of the design it is hard to date it precisely but it may be late Medieval in date as the portcullis was more popular from the 16th century onwards.
