Five copper alloy Roman and Byzantine Coins.

1. Alexandrain tetradrachm of Maximiamus AD286-7

Obverse: ]IMAIANOC CEB; laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right.

Reverse: Elpis walking left holding flower and raising skirt. Star in right field above.

6.6g, 18mm in diameter.

2. 12 nummi of Alexandria under Maurice Tiberius 582-602

Obverse: Pearl diademed, draped and cuirassed bust. M O - blundered legend

Reverse: Uncertain as heavily corroded but probably as nos 3-5.

4.9g, 16mm in diameter.

Obverse: Pearl diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of emperor right. M O - blundered legend.

Reverse: Large I B either side of a cross.

4.8g, oval flan 15-16mm in diameter.

4.1g, 15-16mm in diameter.

Irregular flan with striking flaw.

Late 6th - early 7th centuries.

Notes:

These coins were found while digging a post hole for a fence within inches of each other. They have similar corrosion products and appear to have been buried in the same conditions. Found aproximately 20 years ago.
