Copper alloy mount. Cast pelta shaped plate with blunt outer ends and a pointed central projection, and with a loop below (when the plate is viewed as a pelta) formed by horns tapering in their width towards slightly expanded ends, though cast as a single ring. There is a thick integrally cast spike or lug of c.4mm by c.3mm and length 6mm projecting from above the loop on the back of the plate. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410.
