A copper alloy contemporary copy of a half-crown of William III, dated 1696. The coin was probably originally silvered to give the impression of it being the official issue, however a number of these copies are known, most without retaining the silver coating. This example is the right size but is lighter than official issues, a trait often seen on forgeries of the period.
