A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy and gilded mount (c. 1500-c. 1600).
This mount is circular in plan, domed at the front and concave at the rear. Moulded decoration at the front covers the whole surface. At the centre a cross moline at the centre has a fleur-de-lis in each angle. These fleurs-de-lis spring from a beaded border close to the edge. The rear face is concave at the centre and flat near the edge. The flat surface has two diametrically opposed spikes, circular in cross-section.
The front has traces of gilding with light green copper-alloy corrosion products within the crevices. The rear face mat and covered with light green copper-alloy corrosion products. At the front it is slightly worn.
