Bow brooch</objecttype>
<descriptions>
<description>
<full>Copper alloy bow brooch of La Tene III type, and of Nauheim derivative form of 1st century BC to 1st Century AD date. The brooch is incomplete, missing the foot and catch&#45;plate and the spring has broken at the chord. The spring, typically for the type had an internal chord and would have had two coils either side of the head. The bow profile is flat and the spring erupts in a near straight line from the bow. The surviving upper bow is flat with angular shoulders and converging sides. The face is decorated with an incised side border and three horizontal incised lines. There is a central sub&#45;rectangular panel containing slight horizontal raised lines. Beneath the three incised lines, the bow is plain, but has the suggestion of another incised horizontal above the break. </full>
