A complete copper alloy quatrefoil strap fitting or mount, of probable Medieval to Post Medieval dating (AD 1200 to AD 1650).

The mount is formed of a thick sheet moulded into a convex form with a pellet at the centre. The design consists of 4 double (layered) petals, with a groove separating each double petal. Central on the lower surface emerges a thin circular sectioned shank, with a circular copper alloy rivet rove present.

The mount measures 14.54 mm in length, 14.43 mm wide and 4.07 mm thick. It weighs 0.9 g.

The mount is a mid green colour, with an even surface patina.

Similar moulded mounts have been recorded on the PAS database including HAMP-580784 and SUSS-39D7A3. All are believed to be Medieval to Post Medieval in dating (AD 1200 to AD 1650).
